Reality Check - Update on Development

So... life happened.

For the past few months, I found myself caught in the usual loop: No time when I had motivation, no motivation when I had time - and when I had both, I just kept adding and removing things that didn’t feel right.

🎮 Visual Direction Struggles

At one point, the game felt bland. So I added a PSX filter to give it some style. Five days of tinkering later, I realized: it doesn’t work with URP. Switched over to a URP-compatible one… spent 2–3 weeks fine-tuning, only to realize the retro look doesn’t match the semi-realistic style I’m aiming for - especially since I plan to add dirt/mud physics later.

Result? Five months went by with no actual progress on gameplay.

⚖️ What I’ve Learned

I set a goal that was just too big. Not impossible - but something that takes a full-time dev or a team to realistically pull off.

So I’m restructuring how I work:

  • From now on, I’ll focus on just 1–2 features per update.
  • Update naming will shift to smaller chunks: → v0.5av0.5bv0.5c, and then we move to v0.6a, and so on.

🧭 What’s Next?

Honestly? I can’t promise what the next update will be, when it’ll drop, or what it’ll include - not just yet. But I’m working on grounding the project and setting smaller goals that I can realistically hit.

Hopefully, in the next few days, I’ll have that answer.

If you have a few minutes, please download and try the game - even in its current rough state. Whether your feedback is good, bad, or brutally honest, I’d love to hear it. Just knowing someone out there is playing it gives me a huge boost of motivation to keep going. 💬🎮

Thanks to anyone still following this - more to come.
